College of technology and engineering Udaipur
Hello dear friends, i understand how difficult and tiresome is to find the review of any university or college in India. With a huge number of engineering colleges, it is really very difficult to find the right place for yourself.
This blog will perhaps clear some of your doubts.ABOUT:
C.T.A.E. UDAIPUR (ESTD.1964) is a state government college affiliated to Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur.
The college provides various courses in engineering :-
1. Mechanical Engineering
2. Electrical Engineering
3. Computer science Engineering
4. Information Technology
5. Electronics and Communication Engineering
6. Agriculture Engineering
7. Mining Engineering
8. Civil Engineering
Besides offering B.tech,M.tech and PhD ,the college also offers MBA(technology).
ADMISSION PROCEDURE-Admissions for the session 2015-16 will be done on the basis of Jee-Mains and Class 12th merit. From the 2016-17 session the government plans on admitting students solely on the basis of JEE merit list. 85% of the seats are reserved for state candidates while 15% of the seats are alloted to candidates from all over India. Out of the 85% seats for Rajasthan candidates half would be filled through JEE and the remaining half will be filled on the basis of class 12th marks. A normalization procedure would be followed since candidates from CBSE and RBSE both apply.
There are approximately 350 seats in B.Tech
The college is usually considered one of the best state government colleges of Rajasthan for Engineering.Careers 360 magazine has rated it AAA+
However, you cannot totally depend on these ratings as you never know what is the rating procedure.
I believe that only a student can give you a real review of the college and that's why i decided to write this blog. After my jee-mains and other exams, i was so much confused with all these colleges and advertisements that it became very difficult for me to decide where to go. I then realized the importance of reviews by a student as every college represents itself as number 1 on its attractive website and also has some ranking in some unknown magazine, but let me warn you, don't get carried away by these rankings as most of them are fake.
My opinion-
I would say that i am satisfied with the college and it is definitely much better than the large number of private colleges out there. Leaving aside a few, teachers are nice and helping(i am talking about 1st year). the only problem i see is the appointment of inexperienced teachers as guest faculty.(some of the teachers appointed as guest faculty are pass outs from this college only with little or no experience of teaching). I think the authorities should do something for the appointment of permanent teachers. However it is worth noting that Agriculture and Mining departments have all permanent faculty.
All the laboratories are well equipped and facilities for performing various experiments are available.
The library of the college,i feel is good in terms of academic books but it lacks in many areas for example there are very few novels and magazines available. One of the drawbacks i feel is the timings of the library, it opens at 10 in the morning and closes at 4:30 in the evening. These timings clash with the classes. we have to either go to the library during lunch break or miss a class. The same time problem is with the canteen. Also, the canteen is substandard. I think both of them should open at least one hour before the classes start and close an hour or two after the college gets over so that we can go there without any hurry and read and select books peacefully.i recommend you to stay focused on your area of interest and do not expect too much from CTAE.
NOTE-if you are planning to take mechanical, think twice. The teachers are seriously like monsters. You will have to work really hard and stay good in their eyes if you want marks, otherwise good marks will be a distant dream for you.
PLACEMENTS- Only about two years back, the on campus placements were outstanding but now the scenario is changed. Agriculture and Mining students still get almost 90% placements. but the condition is pathetic in other branches. The placement bureau is not that active as a result of which only a few companies visit here. The package offered to Agriculture and Mining students is generally 5 lac plus. The college however does not release the packages given to students of other branches. This indicates that the other branch students do not get a good package. There is a hope among the students that the situation will change but at present we can not say anything.
If you have talent you will have great opportunities to expose them as college provides a nice platform.Just put effort in doing something extra and learn new skills which will differentiate you from others. I recommend you to stay focused on your area of interest.Only your efforts will help you stand out of the crowd..And always remember-
"Success does not lower its standard to accommodate you,
you have to increase you standard to achieve it...
For God provides food for every bird,
but not in its nest."
